Build a study routine that fits your next chapter.
A practical weekly planning exercise for prospective hospitality and business students.

Your ambition deserves space in your week. If you are considering hospitality or business education while managing work, family responsibilities or travel, a realistic study routine can help you approach your next step with greater clarity. At Nairobi Institute of Hospitality, we encourage you to plan your time as carefully as you compare programmes.
Begin with the commitments you already have. Write down your working hours, regular responsibilities and travel time. Then identify the periods when you can give learning your attention. A useful plan reflects your actual week, including busy days, rather than an ideal timetable that is difficult to maintain.
Next, ask the right questions before reserving study time. Contact our admissions team to confirm your preferred programme's current timetable, learning arrangements and practical attendance requirements. Ask how scheduled lessons, coursework and preparation fit together. Do not assume that an online arrangement removes every attendance requirement; confirm what applies to the course you want to pursue.
Build your plan around three kinds of activity: attending, reviewing and applying. Attendance connects you with scheduled learning. Reviewing means returning to notes and identifying questions while the material is still familiar. Applying means practising appropriate exercises or explaining a concept in your own words. The balance will depend on the programme and the guidance you receive.
Try a simple weekly exercise. Choose one learning goal, such as understanding a service process or explaining a business concept. Set aside a manageable review period and write down one question to bring to your next learning conversation. At the end of the week, check what you understood and what needs another look. Progress becomes easier to assess when the goal is specific.
Leave room for adjustment. Work schedules can change and travel can take longer than expected. Include a little flexibility, and ask the college how to communicate if a difficulty affects attendance or coursework. Planning is most useful when it helps you notice a problem early and seek accurate guidance.
Your course choice and your routine should support each other. Explore our hospitality and business short courses, certificates and diplomas, then ask for the current course outline, duration, fees and entry requirements. We can help you identify the information you need to make a considered decision, without rushing the process.
